Mānakāmasutta ṃ Sutta 9. The Discourse on One Who Desires Conceit 9. Sāvatthinidāna ṃ . Ekamanta ṃ ṭ hitā kho sā devatā bhagavato santike ima ṃ gātha ṃ abhāsi – At Sāvatthī. Standing to one side, that deity recited this verse in the Blessed One's presence:   “Na mānakāmassa damo idhatthi, Na monamatthi asamāhitassa; Eko araññe vihara ṃ pamatto, Na maccudheyyassa tareyya pāra”nti. “For one who desires conceit, there is no taming here, nor is there wisdom for one who is unconcentrated.
